April Industry Highlight: Promoting Safety on America’s Roads
As the spring season blooms across the United States, so does the flurry of construction activities on our highways and roads. With this increase in roadwork comes the need for heightened vigilance and caution from drivers. National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is here again April 15-19 to remind us of the importance of safe driving through work zones.
Hosted by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), The NWZAW aims to spread awareness and promote safer practices for motorists navigating through construction zones. Under the theme “Work zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever“, the campaign emphasizes the lasting impact that a single moment of negligence on the road can have.
This annual event brings together a multitude of stakeholders, including state departments of transportation, national road safety organizations, government agencies, private companies, and individuals. Together, they work towards a common goal of reducing accidents and fatalities in work zones.
